On April 26th, the Association for Defending Palestinian Refugees Rights will be organizing the annual “March of Return” in Lajjoon, a displaced Palestinian village in the Umm Al Fahem district, to commemorate Nakba Day.
Nakba Day, which means "Day of Catastrophe" in Arabic, marks the anniversary of the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their homes in 1948. It is commemorated each year on May 15 by Palestinians in Israel, Palestinians in Diaspora, and all over the world demanding their right of return.
DPRR has been organizing demonstrations on Nakba Day for 26 years now, and this year's demonstration will be held in Lajoon. The village, like many others, was forcibly depopulated during the 1948 war and its residents were never allowed to return to their homes.
